The Roper Center congratulates Harry O’Neill upon receiving the American Association for Public Opinion Research’s AAPOR Award for lifetime achievement.
When Mr. O'Neill retired in 2005, he was vice chairman, Roper Public Affairs and Media, Gfk, NOP, where he had been on the staff since 1988. Previously, he was Vice Chairman of Opinion Research Corporation, where he was a member of the staff for 25 years.
Mr. O'Neill's activities span a broad range of survey research. His principal research activities have been in the fields of politics, public policy issues, corporate communications, and litigation studies. He has been involved in the direction of the public opinion research for numerous political campaigns, including several Presidential campaigns, and directed the polling for the White House during the Nixon Administration. |

In November 2007, the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research Board of Directors honored Harry O’Neill with its first-ever Distinguished Service Award.
Mr. O’Neill was a member of the Roper Center’s Board of Directors from 1983 through 2007 when he retired from the Board. During that time Mr. O’Neill served for ten years as Chairman. He was instrumental in a number of policy decisions at the Center, serving on various committees, including the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Fundraising Committee. Mr. O’Neill helped shape the mission of the Roper Center and established standards by which the Center’s business, acquisitions processes, and services are administered. |
