Some people say that while Americans may talk about smaller government and less dependency on government services, they don't really mean it and have, in fact, become more dependent on government. Do you think the average American is highly dependent on government, somewhat dependent on government, only slightly dependent on government, or not at all dependent on government?

One of the computer security proposals before Congress would allow corporations and government to share security data. Supporters of the measure say sharing security data is necessary to protect computer networks. Opponents say it will hurt civil liberties by allowing private data to be shared. Which comes closer to your views--government and business should be allowed to share data to better protect the security of computer networks or government and business should not be allowed to share data because it will hurt privacy and civil liberties?

(As you may have heard, under the new (2010) health care reform law, all health insurance plans, starting in August (2012), will begin covering the costs of contraception and birth control, without any co-pays. Churches, synagogues, mosques and places of worship were exempted, but Catholic hospitals and universities that employ people of different faiths, when they provide health insurance, those policies will need to cover the cost of contraception and birth control.) Let me tell you more about this issue. After I read these statements, please tell me which one comes closer to your point of view. President (Barack) Obama says this rule is important because women for the first time are guaranteed preventive health coverage, including prescription contraception without co-pays, as recommended by the Institute of Medicine. But churches, synagogues and places of worship are exempted and where a Catholic hospital or university objects, their employees will be able to get their coverage without added cost directly from the insurance company. This strikes the right balance, religious liberties are protected and women can still get coverage where they work. Republican presidential candidates and leaders say this is not about women's rights or contraception. This is an attack on religion and on all people of faith. In imposing this requirement, the federal government is violating a First Amendment right that has stood for more than two centuries. Religious organizations will be required to condone contraception because their insurance plans must include it. The government should not require religious organizations to violate their own principles. Having heard this, which statement do you agree with more, the statement by President Obama or the statement by Republican presidential candidates and leaders? (If Obama/Republicans, ask:) (Is that strongly or not so strongly?)

Whether they are referred to as 'subsidies', 'tax incentives' or 'loan guarantees', the use of taxpayer dollars for energy projects are long-term investments.
