The Gallup Organization asked adults nationwide the following:

In view of the developments since we entered the fighting in Vietnam, do you think the US made a mistake sending troops to fight in Vietnam ?

In this example seven and a half years in the context of sustained military action and rising casualties certainly changed some minds.
