RoperExplorer "How to Guide"


Powered by the Survey Data Analysis, a suite of tools created at the University of California-Berkeley.

The RoperExplorer tutorial video is also available as an alternative means of instruction.

To access RoperExplorer members simply sign in and conduct a search in iPOLL or Search for Datasets.

The Screen shots provided below are based on "Search for Datasets" however the steps are the same for iPOLL.

Signin using your personal account information

As you view the dataset search results page, in addition to the RoperExpress RoperExpress icon and iPOLL iPOLL iconlinks to the right of the study, for some studies you will also see the RoperExplorer icon RoperExplorer icon that will take you to the analysis page.

Select the RoperExplorer icon

The RoperExplorer Online Data Analysis page will display the dataset description and variables pertaining to that dataset.

Step 1: Select variables for analysis by selecting from the topic list provided for the ROW variable, the program will automatically take you to step 2.

NOTE: If you prefer to search all questions or by keyword, click on the appropriate radial buttons below Step 1.

Step 2: Select variables by selecting from the topic list provided for the COLUMN variable. Once you select a variable the program will automatically take you to the next step.

Step 2 of RoperExplorer Online Data Analysis is to select a column question

Step 3: View the table. The resulting table is a cross tabulation of how respondents answered one question by how they answered the other. No programming is required. Just point-click-analyze!

Step 3 of RoperExplorer Online Data Analysis is to review the resulting crosstabulation

You may rerun your analysis by selecting new variables and clicking RUN ANALYSIS. The resulting table will reflect the new variables.
